National Assembly to review revised Immigration Control Act tomorrow

Jeju is likely to be excluded from next year’s nationwide implementation of the new electronic travel authorization system.

The Bill Examination Subcommittee, which is under the National Assembly’s Legislation & Judiciary Committee, held a meeting last Thursday and approved the revision bill of the Immigration Control Law. The bill stipulates that foreigners must report their entry into South Korea 72 hours in advance.

However, government officials and the National Assembly decided not to introduce the e-travel permit system in Jeju due to the concerns of the adverse effects on the island’s tourism industry.

Meanwhile, the Legislation & Judiciary Committee will hold a general meeting tomorrow review the proposed revision bill.

악영향 우려에 의견을 같이하고
제외하는 쪽으로 방침을 정한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

한편 법사위는 27일 전체회의를 열어
이같은 내용의 출입국관리법 개정안을 처리할 예정입니다.
