4. Jeju attempts to increase halibut exports to Vietnam
Foreign buyers show high interest in Jeju halibut

The province is working to increase the halibut export volume to Vietnam due to struggling Jeju halibut sales in the Japanese market.

Local fishing industry began exporting halibut to Vietnam in 2015. Currently, more than 20 fish farms are exporting up to 100 tons of fish, which is a 39-ton increase from 2017.

It has also been reported that many foreign buyers that visited a recent international food fair in Hanoi, Vietnam, have shown a keen interest in Jeju halibut.

Local officials expect to gain more momentum for overseas shipment of Jeju halibut after the construction of its logistic hub center in Incheon is finished.

해외수출에 보다 탄력을 받을 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
