‘Environmental impact assessment concludes low bird strike possibility’

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport refuted allegations of insufficient assessment of the island’s second airport’s impact on the local environment and ecosystem.

Land Ministry officials explained that the ministry met all the requirements of the environmental impact assessment. It conduct an avian survey and evaluated the airport’s overall impact on the local community and environment five times since 2017.

Officials stressed that researchers identified the distribution and travel routes of local and migratory birds through the four-season avian survey and concluded that there is a low risk of aircraft-bird collision.

They added that the ministry also thoroughly investigated for local natural caves at 109 possible locations through electric signal and drilling investigation methods.

국내 공항에서 사용중인
조류충돌 평가를 적용한 결과
충돌 위험성이 낮게 나왔다고
강조했습니다.

동굴조사도
추정 지점 109곳을 기준으로
시추조사와 전기 신호 탐사 등을
진행했다며 부실 의혹을 반박했습니다.
