4. KTO to replace old palm trees at Jungmun Tourism Complex
Old roadside palm trees removed to prevent accidents

The Korea Tourism Organization will plant round-leaf holly trees and date palm trees in Jungmun Tourism Complex, Seogwipo City.

KTO said that after a meeting with experts, it decided to plant 51 round-leaf and 111 date palm trees at the site where 280 old palm trees were removed this July.

The old palm trees were removed to prevent potential accidents caused by tree falling from strong winds and storms.

The organization had initially planned to plant washingtonia filifera palm trees at Jungmun Tourism Complex, but it changed the plan due to tree’s safety and supply issues.

중문관광단지 야자수의 대체 수종으로 먼나무와 종려나무가 식재됩니다.

한국관광공사는
최근 전문가 회의를 거쳐
지난 7월 베어낸 야자수 280그루를 대신해
종려나무와 먼나무 160여 그루를 심기로 했다고 밝혔습니다.

공사는 당초
워싱턴 야자수의 하나인
필리페라종을 식재할 계획이었지만
안전성이 떨어지고 수량 확보가 어려워 계획을 변경했습니다.
