1. Province pushing to elevate ‘Tamnasullyeokdo’ to national treasure
Drawing recognized for its rarity, artistic and historical value

The province is pushing to elevate the status of ‘Tamnasullyeokdo’ from a treasure to a national treasure.

Thus, local officials have submitted relevant paperwork to the Cultural Heritage Administration for review.

Tamnasullyeokdo is a compilation of 43 scenes of events and the daily livelihood of islanders in the 18th century. It was drawn by Lee Hyeong-sang, who was sent to inspect Jeju Island in 1702.

In particular, it is considered to have high historical and artistic value as it is the only remaining drawing drawn by officials during their inspection tour and shows the geography, topography and folklore of 18th century Jeju Island.

보물 '탐라순력도' 국보 승격 추진

18세기 제주 모습을 담고 있는 보물 탐라순력도를
국보로 승격하는 방안이 추진됩니다.

제주특별자치도는
현재 보물로 지정돼 있는 탐라순력도를
국보로 승격하기 위해
관련 신청서를 문화재청에 제출했다고 밝혔습니다.

탐라순력도는 1702년 부임한 이형상 제주목사가
도내 각 고을을 순찰하는 내용과
여러 행사 장면 등을 43면에 담고 있는 화첩입니다.

특히 지방관의 순력을 그린 국내 유일의 기록화첩으로
희귀성뿐 아니라
18세기 제주도의 지리와 지형, 풍물 등을
보여주고 있다는 점에서
역사적, 예술적 가치가 높은 것으로 평가받고 있습니다.
