4. Three stone structures in Jeju designated as local tangible heritage
Cultural assets well reflect culture and local heritage of Jeju

Three cultural assets made with stone have been additionally designated as local tangible heritage.

The three stone structures include a stone statue in sangmo-ri, a stone pagoda in Gosu-dong and a stone monument in Hannam-ri.

The stone statue in Sangmori is located in front of the Moseulpo Post Office. It has been valued as a local heritage for its unique shape and purpose to protect the village.

The stone pagoda in Gosu-dong, Namwon-eup is valued for its well preserved state.

The stone monument in Hannam-ri is valued for being built to praise the first women in Jeju to be awarded for remaining faithful to her husband even after his demise.

석상·거욱대·열녀비 '향토유형유산' 지정

상모리 석상과 고수동 거욱대, 고려 정씨 열녀비 등 3개 문화재가
향토유형유산으로 추가 지정됐습니다.

대정읍 모슬포우체국 앞에 있는 상모리 석상은
마을을 보호하는 의미와 함께
도내에서도 형태가 독특해
향토유산으로 가치가 높다는 평가를 받았습니다.

남원읍 고수동 마을에 있는 거욱대는
원형을 잘 유지하고 있는 점,

한남리 고려 정씨 열녀비는
제주 최초의 열녀를 기리는 점 등을 감안해
향토유형유산으로 이름을 올렸다고 제주도는 설명했습니다.
