1. Song Jae-ho: 'Please don't overextend what President said about 2nd airport'
Presidential committee to work to create consensus within Jeju

Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development Head Song Jae-ho said the public should not to overextend what President Moon Jae-in meant when he said that he will leave the second airport project entirely up to the islander’s decision last Tuesday.

Song clarified the intentions of President Moon during his meeting with provincial council Chairman Kim Tae-seok yesterday, that it is very unlikely the president meant to put a brake on the new airport construction project.

He added that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will proceed with the project in a consistent manner and that he will work hard to reflect the islanders’ opinion in the process.

지난 19일 문재인 대통령이 국민과의 대화에서
제2공항 문제를 제주도민들의 선택에 맡기겠다고
언급한 것과 관련해
송재호 국가균형발전위원장은
대통령의 의중이 확대해석되지 않았으면 좋겠다고 선을 그었습니다.

송 위원장은
28일 제주도의회 김태석 의장과의 만남에서
최근 대통령의 발언을 두고 해석이 분분한 것에 대해
신공항에 브레이크를 걸려는 의중은 아닐 것이라고
의견을 밝혔습니다.

정책을 추진중인 국토부에서는
일관되게 사업을 진행할 수밖에 없다며
충분히 합의를 할 수 있는 기회가 열려 있는 만큼
도민들의 의견을 모을 수 있도록 노력하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
