3. Seoul sets 40%+ quota for CSAT admissions
MoE to push for less emphasis on early admissions track

The Ministry of Education set a quota for CSAT admissions for 16 major schools in Seoul. The schools will be required to select more than 40% of students based on their College Scholastic Ability Test scores from the 2023 school year.

Ministry officials announced a plan to strengthen fairness in the college entrance system, with a main emphasis on the quota for CSAT admissions.

Seoul plans to expand the quota to 40% by the 2023 school year, but will work to increase the quota to the target level by 2022 depending on the situation of the colleges.

In addition, the ministry is pushing to reduce the excessive requirements of the early admissions track and no longer reflect extra-curricular activities outside of the school curriculum in the admissions process.

교육부는 28일 이 같은 내용을 골자로 한
'대입제도 공정성 강화방안'을 발표했습니다.

공정성 강화 방안으로는
정시 수능위주전형을 2023학년도까지 40%로 상향 조정하되
대학 여건에 따라
이르면 2022학년도에 조기 달성하도록 하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

또 학생부 기재항목을 단계적으로 축소하고
2024학년도부터는 정규교육과정 외의 비교과 활동을
입시에 반영하지 않도록 할 방침입니다.
