1. Province forbids domestic sales of ‘Jeju Yongamsu’
Orion fights back, but province warns to cut off groundwater supply

Regarding the controversy over Orion selling its new volcanic bedrock water brand in the domestic market, the provincial government expressed regret and warned Orion that it will end groundwater supply if the company sells the water in Korea.

Provincial Department of Environmental Preservation Director Park Geun-soo held a press conference yesterday and said that Orion did not sign an official groundwater supply contract with the province and the government will cut off groundwater supply if Orion sells ‘Jeju Yongamsu’ in the domestic market.

He also refuted Orion's claim that the company had continuously expressed its intention to sell the product in Korea, saying that the province has never expressed consent and rather repeatedly told the company that it will not allow domestic sales of ‘Jeju Yongamsu’ as the volcanic bedrock water is a public good.

In particular, he said that Orion’s business plan that contains plans to sell the water in Korea was submitted for water well tube development and has no legal binding effect in this case. He added that he has not received any new business plans since then.

오리온이
정식적으로 염지하수 공급계약을 체결하지 않았다며
이대로 국내 판매를 계속한다면
염지하수의 공급을 끊겠다고 밝혔습니다.

또 그동안 국내 판매 의향을 밝혀왔다는
오리온의 주장을 반박하면서
이를 용인한다는 언급은 없었고
오히려 공수화 원칙상
국내 판매를 불허한다는 방침을 수차례 전해왔다고 설명했습니다.

특히 오리온이 국내 판매를 명시했다는 사업계획서와 관련해서는
자체 관정 개발을 위한 것으로
이미 자진 취하돼 의미가 없다며
이후 신규 사업계획서는 받은 적 없다고 말했습니다.
