1. Cause of fire not found in Daeseong-ho’s stern
Jeju Coast Guard continues search for boat’s bow

Officials have found no signs of point of ignition on the towed stern of Daeseong-ho. The fishing boat was torn in half sank into the waters off Chagwido Island due to a deadly fire outbreak on the ship.

Five organizations, including the Jeju Coast Guard and the National Forensics Service, found no traces of short circuit inside the cabin or burnt fuel tanks and containers in the stern. Thus, they believe the fire to have started at the bow of the sunken ship.

Meanwhile, the local Coast Guard have deployed unmanned submersibles to look for the boat’s bow, but little progress has been made.

발화지점이 배의 뒷부분이
아닌것으로 확인됐다고 밝혔습니다.

제주지방해양경찰청과
국과수 등 다섯 개 기관이 합동 감식한 결과,
연료탱크와 창고가 불타지 않았고
선실 안에도 합선 흔적 등
불이 시작됐을 것으로 보이는
잔해가 발견되지 않아
불은 선수 부분에서 시작됐을 것으로 보고 있습니다.

한편, 제주지방해양경찰청은
무인잠수정을 투입해 대성호의 선수로 추정되는
물체를 확인하고 있지만
별다른 성과는 없습니다.
