1. International Symposium held on UNESCO memory of the World
Experts say long term study needed before listing 4·3 records

An international symposium on registering the records of the April 3rd Incident as a UNESCO Memory of the World was held at the AStar Hotel Jeju on Friday afternoon.

Following a keynote speech made by the Register Subcommittee Chair Jan Bos on the history and spirit of the Memory of the World, UNESCO officials explained and discussed the listing process of the records of the 5.18 Gwangju Uprising, information on the Brazilian military regime and the anti-government network and the Cambodian records.

Jan Bos said that the key criteria of registering the records as a Memory of the World is their historical importance and their significance in world history.

광주 5.18 기록물과
브라질 군사 정권 정보와 반정보 네트워크 기록물군,
캄보디아 세계기록유산의 등재 과정에 대한 설명과
토론으로 진행됐습니다.

이 자리에에서 기조강연에 나선
얀 보스 유네스코 세계기록유산 심사소위원장은
세계기록유산 등재에 있어 핵심은 역사적 중요성이라며
해당 기록이
세계 역사에 있어 시사하는 바가 있는지를 따져야 한다고 주장했습니다.
