3. Logistics companies to notify islanders of extra delivery fees
Province to conduct factual survey on special delivery prices to Jeju

With additional cost burdens on Jeju residents for the delivery of parcels to Jeju, logistics companies will be required to notify islanders in advance of additional fees. The province will also conduct a factual survey to release a list of delivery prices to Jeju.

According to Jeju Island, the provincial council’s standing committee passed next year’s budget plan that reflects the cost to conduct the factual survey and release the list of the additional delivery prices.

If the budget bill is approved, the province will conduct the survey twice in the first and second half of next year on the additional delivery prices that logistics companies have been burdening the islanders. Then the local government will publicly release the delivery prices so that companies will compete and eventually lower their shipping prices to Jeju.

In addition, the Fair Trade Commission plans to revise the Act on the Consumer Protection In Electronic Commerce to make it mandatory for logistics companies to notify consumers of the extra delivery costs in advance starting from next year.

특수배송비 실태를 조사하고 도민에게 공표해
배송비를 인하할 수 있도록
택배 업체 간 자율경쟁을 유도할 방침입니다.

이와함께
공정거래위원회 차원에서
전자상거래 정보제공 고시를 개정해
택배 업체가 특수배송비를 사전에 고지하는 방안을
내년부터 시행할 계획입니다.
