Province to take large fruits off the market

In order to stabilize the price of locally produced mandarin oranges, Jeju decided to take large-size fruits off the market.

Thus, the province will purchase 20,000 tons of mandarin oranges with the size between from next Monday through next year's Lunar New Year. The purchased fruits will be used to make manufactured products.

Officials will pay 300 won per kilogram of large sized mandarins to participating farmers.

Recently, the market price of outdoor grown mandarin oranges has been sluggish at around 5,800 won to 6,000 won per 5 kilograms. This is a 19 percent drop compared to that of last year.

오는 16일부터 내년 설 명절까지
2L(투라지) 사이즈 감귤 2만톤을 모두 수매해
가공용으로 활용한다는 계획입니다.

참여 농가에는 1kg당 300원씩 수매금으로 지원할 예정입니다.

최근 노지감귤 도매시장 가격은
5kg당 5천800원에서 6000원 선으로
지난해보다 19% 떨어지는 등 부진을 면치 못하고 있습니다.
