2. Jeju Air to acquire 51% stake in Eastar Jet
South Korea’s top LCC aims to strengthen its market share

Jeju Air decided to acquire Eastar Jet, which has been suffering from financial difficulties.

Jeju Air announced that it signed an Memorandum of Understanding with Eastar Holdings, which is the largest shareholder of Eastar Jet, and began procedures to take over control of the company.

Under the MOU, Jeju Air will sign a deal to buy a 51.17 percent stake in Eastar Jet by the end of this year.

It has been confirmed that Jeju Air first proposed the deal to Eastar Jet to strengthen its market leadership by increasing its market share.

제주항공이 경영난에 시달려온 이스타항공을
인수하기로 했습니다.

이스타항공 최대주주인 이스타홀딩스와
주식매매계약에 대한 양해각서를 체결하고
경영권 인수를 위한 절차에 돌입했다고 밝혔습니다.

이번 양해각서에 따라
제주항공은 연말까지 이스타항공 지분의 51.17%의 주식을 인수하는
주식매매계약을 체결할 예정입니다.

제주항공은
점유율 확대로 시장주도권을 강화하기 위해
이스타항공에 먼저 매각을 제안한 것으로
확인됐습니다.
