Provincial council chairman points out financial concerns

An ordinance to establish the Jeju Facility Management Corporation was finally passed at the standing committee, but has been shelved once more at the provincial council’s regular session. Thus, whether the public corporation will be established next year remains unclear.

At the closing ceremony of this year's last preliminary session held on Tuesday, provincial council Chairman Kim Tae-seok decided to shelve the bill again due to financial concerns and a need for more careful planning.

In particular, he argued that establishing the Facility Management Corporation could be a waste of tax money and may put more financial burden on the provincial government.

Meanwhile, councilor Kim Hwang-kok (김황국) said that the chairman’s repeated decision to shelve the bill incapacitates the standing committee and provincial councilors.

시설공단 조례 '상정 보류'…"재정압박 우려"

시설공단 조례안을 직권으로 상정하지 않았습니다.

특히 시설공단 설립은
재정이 어려운 현 상황에서
도민혈세 낭비와
재정압박의 큰 요인이 될 수 있다고 주장했습니다.

한편 김황국 도의원은
의장 직권으로 안건 상정이 보류된 것은
상임위원회를 무력화시키고
의원 의견을 존중하지 않는 행태라고 반발했습니다.
