4. Province proposes to lower eligibility standard for multi-child benefits
Revised standard will include families with 2 children

As the local birth rate continues to drop, the province is pushing to ease the eligibility standards for multi-child benefits by lowering the standard from three children to two.

The provincial government also announced that a proposal to revise the maternity benefits ordinance will be released as well.

The benefits listed in the revision bill will include discounts on hagwons and public parking fees for families with 2 or more children.

The change comes in the midst of a sharp decline in birth rate on the island, with 4,700 births reported in 2018, down from 5,500 in 2008.

다자녀 기준을 3명에서 2명으로
완화하는 조례 개정이 추진됩니다.


제주특별자치도는
이 같은 내용의 출산장려지원 조례 일부 개정안을
입법 예고했습니다.

개정안이 시행되면
2자녀 이상 가정에게는
다자녀 카드가 발급돼
학원비 할인이나 공영주차장 요금 감면 혜택을
받을 수 있습니다.

제주지역 출생아 수는
2008년 5천 5백여 명에서
지난해 4천 7백여 명으로
줄었습니다.
