10% of profit from Tourism Promotion Fund to be used for education
The Jeju Provincial Office of Education is making plans to expand prospective IB schools to both elementary and middle schools within the year.
Pyoseon High School is currently the only school that has been confirmed for the new curriculum, and it has been announced that the school will receive increased support to obtain the official IB nominated school status.
The education office will also designate 10 percent of this year's profits from the Jeju Tourism Promotion Fund to the account for education expenses to be used to improve education on the island.
The government plans to revise the Jeju Special Act system so that the school superintendent can also have the power to submit bills. The provincial governor is currently the only official who has the power to do so.
