4. 2019: Second hottest year on record
Annual temperature 0.9℃ higher than average

Last year was the second hottest year ever recorded in Jeju.

The Jeju Regional Meteorological Office confirms that last year’s annual average temperature in Jeju was 17.1 degrees Celsius. That’s 0.9 degrees higher than average and the second warmest since 1961 when weather observations were made for the first time in Jeju.

The hottest year on record is 1998, when the annual average temperature was recorded at 17.3 degrees Celsius. That’s 0.2 degrees higher than last year.

The monthly average temperature last year was higher than the average of corresponding months by 0.8 to 1.8 degrees. April, June and September were the exceptions, as these months were affected by cold waves, monsoons or storms.

It has been noted that 7 of the 10 hottest years are between the year 2000 and now. Global warming is a growing concern, as it affects local weather and raises uncertainty.

평년보다 0.9도 높았고
1961년 기상관측 이래 역대 두 번째로 높았습니다.

역대 가장 더웠던 해는 1998년 17.3도로
지난해보다 0.2도 높았습니다.

지난해에는
찬공기의 영향을 자주 받은 4월과
장마, 태풍이 몰아친 6월에서 9월을 제외한
모든 달의 기온이
평년보다 0.8에서 1.8도 이상 높았습니다.

특히 연 평균기온이 가장 높았던
상위 10개 해 가운데 7개가
2000년대 이후 기록된 것으로 나타나
지구 온난화로 인한
기상 불확실성이 커진 것으로 분석됐습니다.
