Lunar New Year holiday to bring large influx of tourists

A new poll shows that 20% of domestic travelers will be traveling to Jeju Island during the Lunar New Year holidays.

According to an app for booking accommodations, 13% of reservations made during January 23rd to 28th was in Seogwipo City. Reservations in Jeju City were lower, at 7.8%.

Analysts explained that the demands for overseas travel were transferred to Jeju due to issues with popular destinations, such as the ongoing anti-Japanese movement and the eruption of a volcano in the Philippines.

Other Korean cities that are expecting an influx of tourists are Yeosu and Sokcho, which took 6.1% and 5.3% of the reservations made, respectively.
