1. Prosecutors ask for death sentence in Koh Yu-jeong case
Final hearing to be held on Feb 10

The prosecutors of the Koh Yu-jeong murder case are arguing for the death penalty of the 36-year-old accused of murdering her ex-husband and step-son.

During the public hearing held on the afternoon of the 20th at the Jeju District Court, the prosecution requested that the court hand down the death penalty, the maximum sentence allowed by law.

The prosecution argued that the murder of her ex-husband and step-son was a crime against humanity and that Koh has shown no remorse or regret.

Koh's defense team countered with a request for continuance of the final hearing, as they did not receive all materials requested from the National Forensic Service.

The court will hold a final hearing on February 10th to hear the defense counsel’s final arguments and Koh Yu-jeong’s final testimony.

20일 오후 제주지방법원 제2형사부 정봉기 부장판사 심리로 열린 고유정 사건 결심 공판에서
검찰은 재판부에 법정 최고형인 사형을 선고해 달라고 요청했습니다.

검찰은 전남편과 의붓아들 살해 사건 모두
반인류적 범행이며 반성하는 태도도 전혀 없다며
구형 이유를 밝혔습니다.

반면 고유정 변호인 측은
국과수에 요청한 일부 자료를 받지 못했다는 이유로
최후 변론 연기를 요구했습니다.

이에따라 재판부는
다음 달 10일 결심공판을 열고 변호인측의 최후 변론과
고유정의 최후 진술을 들을 예정입니다.
