Announces bid for general elections as Democratic candidate

Chairman Jae-ho Song of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development, has resigned as chairman and officially announced his candidacy for the general elections.

In a public announcement made on the 21st, Chairman Song stated that he has accepted the Minjoo Democratic party’s proposal to run for the general elections to help achieve the key policies of President Moon Jae-In of a balanced national development and administrative decentralization.

Jeju Island is a region that has been characterized by the collapse of regional communities due to division and conflict, and the former chairman has stressed that he will act as a bridge between the government and provincial areas to make Jeju a successful model for balanced national development.

Song is expected to run on April 15 for the general elections in Jeju's Gap district, which the Democratic Party has designated as a strategic nomination region.
