4. Province heightens safety measures for Mount Hallasan climbers
Additional rescue workers deployed, more AED installed

Increased caution is highly encouraged for all visitors of Hallasan Mountain, as there has been a series of hazardous accidents during the winter season.

According to the Halla Mountain National Park Service, three out of five heart attack deaths have occurred during the winter season at Hallasan last year.

The province has deployed safety rescue workers at three high-altitude locations and automated external defibrillators have also been installed at 19 major points along mountain routes. They have asked climbers to avoid excessive hiking and ask for immediate assistance from the national park staff if they are experiencing any physical discomfort.

한라산국립공원관리소에 따르면
지난해 한라산에서 발생한
심장마비 사망사고 5건 가운데 3건이 동절기에 발생했습니다.

제주도는 진달래밭 대피소 등 고지대 3개 지점에
안전구조요원을 배치하고
한라산 등반로 주요 지점 19곳에 자동심장충격기를 설치했다며
등반객들에게 무리한 산행을 피하고
몸에 이상이 있을 경우
국립공원 직원들에게 도움을 요청해달라고 당부했습니다.
