4. Government offers relief for mandarin industry
Province extends season by 1 month, raises prices

The provincial government will extend the official mandarin orange season by one month. Jeju mandarins were originally scheduled to be taken off the market on January 31st.

Mandarins that will be included in the extension have also been expanded to encompass all categories of mandarins. The government has also increased the purchase price from 300 won to 400 won per kilogram.

The government made the decision to help relieve the mandarin industry, which has been suffering a slump with lower than average market prices.

The price for mandarins is currently 6,800 won per 5 kilograms. This is 20% lower than the average price last year, which was 8,200 won.

가격 회복도 더디기 때문입니다.

현재 감귤 도매 가격은
5킬로그램 한상자에 6천 6백 원으로
지난해 평균 8천 2백 원에 비해
20% 낮은 수준을 보이고 있습니다.
