Visitors and residents of Hubei banned from entering Korea

The visa waiver program in Jeju has been temporarily suspended starting Tuesday due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Seoul has announced that the decision was made after discussions with the provincial government to prevent the virus from infiltrating the island.

Non-Korean citizens who have recently been in Hubei, China have been banned from entering Korea starting today.

Meanwhile, Governor Won Hee-ryeong has said that the decision to suspend the visa waiver program was made for the safety of island residents and reassured the public that the government will make every effort to minimize the negative effects on the local tourism industry.

한편, 원희룡 지사는 이번 무사증 제도 일시 중단은
도민의 안전을 위한 대승적 결정으로
관광업계 피해를 최소화하도록 지원방안을 마련해 시행하겠다고 약속했습니다.
