Announces candidacy for general elections

Song Jae-ho will retire as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development and begin preparations for the general elections.

In a telephone interview with KCTV, Song said that he had stepped down as chairman on the 3rd and will hold a press conference at the National Assembly's main hall on the 5th as a part of the obligatory process of becoming a candidate for the Democratic Party.

He added that he will hold another press conference on February 10th at the Jeju branch of the Democratic Party of Korea to officially announce his candidacy for the general elections after completing the preliminary candidate registration.

With Song joining the general election race, it is expected to have a significant impact on the district of Jeju City.
