Annual festivals and gatherings put on hold

Events in Jeju Island have been canceled or delayed due to safety protocols inhibiting the spread of the coronavirus.

The provincial government has reported that nine cultural and sports events have been canceled, including the annual Tamna-guk Ip-chun Gut festival, which is the spring welcoming ritual of Tamna that was scheduled to be held last weekend.

Seventeen events have been delayed, including the Jeju Peace Cup National Taekwondo Competition, and organizers of the Jeju Fire Festival, one of the most popular events on the island, are considering delaying this year’s festival.

The government is also asking municipal cities and districts to refrain from holding public events and to cancel gatherings, if possible.

각종 문화 또는 체육행사 9개가 취소됐습니다.

평화기 전국태권도 대회 등 17개 행사는 잠정 연기됐으며
제주 대표 축제인 들불축제도
연기하는 방안이 검토되고 있습니다.

제주도는 앞으로도
행정시나 읍면동, 각종 단체에서 주관하는
도민 참여 행사를 자제하도록 하고
불가피한 경우 행사를 취소한다는 방침입니다.
