Governor urges government to monitor confirmed cases

Governor Won Hee-ryong held a press conference on Monday morning and urged the government to use private data to overcome the coronavirus crisis and establish a scientific quarantine system.

The governor stressed the need to actively use private big data, such as information to the base stations of mobile phones and credit card payments, as interviews of patients and CCTV are limited in identifying the path of confirmed patients.

International tourists who were confirmed with the coronavirus after returning to their home countries are not currently on the management list, so the governor urged the government to use roaming data to actively check the individuals' movements.

He also stressed that international cooperation should be strengthened to provide information from online platforms, such as Baidu, Alibaba and Wechat to trace the locations of confirmed cases.

민간 빅데이터를 적극적으로
활용할 필요가 있다고 강조했습니다.

특히 귀국 후 확진 판정을 받은 외국인 관광객의 경우
현재 관리대상에 포함돼 있지 않다며
통신사의 로밍 데이터를 활용해
이동동선을 적극적으로 확인해야 한다고 주장했습니다.

이와 함께 중국인 관광객들이 주로 사용하는
바이두나 알리바바, 위쳇 등으로부터
확진자의 이동 이력 위치정보를 제공받을 수 있도록
국제적인 공조도 강화해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
