Province expects coronavirus outbreak to hit tourism industry hard

Jeju Island is preparing countermeasures as the spread of the coronavirus is feared to adversely affect Jeju's economy and tourism industry.

The province plans to form a joint task force team with experts in finance and economy within the week and also assemble an economic cooperation organization covering the economic and industrial sectors within the province.

As the number of international tourists is expected to decrease due to the temporary suspension of the visa waiver program, Jeju will focus on attracting domestic tourists and offer practical measures to support the tourism industry and small business owners.
