Temporary suspension issued to boost local economy

The trekking reservation system for Hallasan Mountain has been suspended temporarily to help boost the local tourism industry which has been severely affected from the spread of COVID-19.

The Jeju World Natural Heritage Center announced that the system has been temporarily put on hold starting today until the coronavirus crisis levels off. The decision was made to fuel domestic demand for travelling to Jeju.

Trekkers can hike to the top of Hallasan Mountain without making a prior reservation for the time being.

The provincial government explained that the suspension was made to support the local tourism industry, as the number of both international and domestic tourists have decreased extensively.

한라산 탐방예약제를 일시 유보한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 당분간 사전 예약 없이도 한라산 탐방이 가능합니다.

제주도는
외국인 관광객은 물론 내국인 관광객까지 크게 줄면서
관광업계의 요청을 받아들여
이같은 결정을 하게 됐다고 설명했습니다.
