4. South Korea selects Jeju as pilot district for new recycling program
PET plastic disposal will be organized by color

Colorless plastic PET bottles will be disposed of separately from colored bottles starting next month.

The Ministry of Environment recently selected five local governments nationwide, including Jeju, as pilot areas for testing the separate disposal of colorless plastic bottles.

Jeju Island will install a collection box at the recycling help center and carry out a pilot project for large apartment complexes that are willing to participate.

Although the recycling rate of PET bottles in Korea is high at 80 percent, the nation imports 22,000 tons of PET plastics per year due to the domestic practice of blending colors, which causes an unrecyclable product.

참여 의사가 있는
150세대 이상 공동주택도 함께 시범사업을 추진합니다.

국내 페트병 재활용률은 80%로 높은 편이지만
무-유색,
라벨 용기가 혼합돼 재활용 효율이 낮아
오히려 해외에서
연간 2만 2천톤의 페트를 수입하고 있는 실정입니다.
