5. Jeju to develop electricity from burning waste
Project forecasted to generate 90,000 MWh a year

The power generation project managed by the Jeju Environmental Resource Circulation Center will officially begin.

The province recently announced that administrative procedures for the sale of electricity have been completed in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Electric Power Exchange.

The waste heat generated by incinerating combustible waste will be used to generate electricity and is expected to produce 90,000 MWh a year by burning 500 tons of waste a day. The project is forecasted to make a profit of 10 billion won.

제주환경자원순환센터를 통한 발전사업이 시작됩니다.

제주특별자치도는
최근 산업통상자원부, 한국전력거래소와
전력판매를 위한
행정절차를 마무리했다고 밝혔습니다.

가연성폐기물을 소각하면서 발생하는 폐열을 이용해
전기를 생산하게 되는데,
하루 500톤을 소각하면 연간 9만 MWh를 판매해
100억원의 수입을
올릴 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
