4. 9 branches of Shincheonji Church of Jesus confirmed in Jeju
Province in process of acquiring list of members

According to a survey conducted by the province, there are 9 branches of the controversial religious cult, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, on Jeju Island.

The province conducted the survey in order to monitor COVID-19 on the island, as many of the nation’s confirmed patients are members of the religious sect.

There are 7 confirmed branches of Shincheonji in Jeju City and 2 in Seogwipo City.

Three of them have voluntarily closed their doors.

The province is currently in the process of acquiring a complete list of members to check if any had recently traveled to Daegu City.

코로나 19 확산과 관련해
제주도가 도내 신천지교회에 대한
전수 조사를 벌인 결과 모두 9곳이 있는 것으로
확인됐습니다.

현재 확인된 도내 신천지 교회는
모두 9곳으로 제주시 7곳, 서귀포시 2곳 입니다.

이 가운데 3곳은 자체적으로
폐쇄 조치를 취한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

제주도는 이들 교회를 통해
교회 신자 명단을 확보 중이며
이들을 상대로 최근 대구 방문 이력 등을 조사할 예정입니다.
