Official charges being reviewed by agency

The police are investigating the leakage of official documents as well as fake news related to the COVID-19 outbreak in Jeju.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, a 36-year-old man who posted a false message on social media stating that there was a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Jeju National University hospital is being called in for questioning.

The police have confiscated the man’s mobile phone and are conducting digital forensics to determine whether or not he should be charged for obstruction of business.

The agency is also investigating the case of a public official in Seogwipo who released an official document containing confidential information regarding the travel route of the second case of COVID-19 in Jeju.
The fact that the offender is a public official is being considered as the police look into charging him for leaking official confidential information.

경찰은 유포자가 공무원이라는 점을 고려해
공무상 비밀누설 혐의 적용 여부를 검토하고 있습니다.
