Upgraded threat level sparks provisional policy change

The provincial government will temporarily allow businesses to use disposable items as a response to the updated "red alert" level of COVID-19.

The policy on the usage of disposable products, which are currently only allowed at airports and seaports, has been expanded to include some 19,000 businesses on the island, including restaurants, rest areas, confectioneries and coffee shops.

According to the Ministry of Environment's notice, a temporary suspension on the restriction is allowed if the threat level for infectious diseases reaches ‘Red’ and the governor initiates the policy change.
