5. Initiation of 'regular monitoring' of Oreum, Wetland, and Gotjawal
System designed to preserve and protect Jeju’s ecosystem

Jeju Island will conduct regular monitoring of damage to environmental resources such as oreums and wetlands. This issue was previously reported by KCTV.

The province will monitor four Oreums that are currently under a nature restoration program. The provincial government is also assessing the progress of biodegradation and restoration at Saebyeol Oreum and Yongnuni Oreum.

In wetlands, the status of animals, plant habitats, and the inflow of invasive species is being checked. In Gotjawals, plant life is being surveyed and damage monitoring is being conducted.

Jeju Island will prepare conservation management measures and establish improvement policies if any threats are found to harm the ecosystem.

5. 오름·습지·곶자왈 '정기적 모니터링' 추진

KCTV가 집중 보도한
오름이나 습지 같은 환경 자원의 훼손 문제와 관련해
제주도가
월 1회 이상 정기적인 모니터링에 나섭니다.

이에 따라 자연휴식년제를 실시하고 있는 오름 4곳과
훼손이 심한 새별오름,
용눈이오름에 대해
식생 변화 추이와 복원 실태를 조사하게 됩니다.

습지에 대해서는 동식물 서식 현황과
생태 교란종 유입상태를 점검하고
곶자왈의 경우 식생 조사와 훼손 감시를 병행합니다.

제주도는
생태계를 해치는 위협요소가 발견될 경우
보전관리 대책을 마련하고
개선 정책을 수립할 방침입니다.
