6. Mulyoungari Oreum wetland selected as candidate for Ramsar Wetland Accreditation
Meulyoungari Oreum a positive example of eco-education tourism

The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries applied for the international certification of 'Ramsar Wetland’.

They selected three domestic wetland cities, including the Mulyoungari Oreum wetlands in Seogwipo City.

Seogwipo’s Mulyoungari Oreum is a wetland developed in the Parasitic Volcanic Zone. It was selected as the final candidate because it is an area in which people-oriented wetland conservation activities and eco-education tourism are encouraged through village policies.

The certification will be given out after a review by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat. Once it is confirmed, the certificate can be received at the next year's general meeting of the Ramsar Convention.

'람사르습지도시' 국제 인증을 신청합니다.

서귀포시 물영아리오름은
기생화산구에 발달한 습지로
마을 규약을 통해 주민주도형 습지 보전활동과
생태교육 관광이 활성화된 지역으로 평가돼
최종 후보지로 선정된 것으로 알려졌습니다.

인증여부는
람사르협약 사무국의 검토를 거쳐 결정되며
최종적으로 인증이 확정되면
내년에 열린 람사르협약 당사국 총회에서
인증서를 받게됩니다.
