5. 88 events canceled or postponed due to COVID-19
Local budget to be reorganized

Almost 90 festivals and events are being canceled or postponed in Jeju due to COVID-19.

The Jeju provincial government said 22 events are canceled. These events include the Jeju Fire Festival, the Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival, and the pre-ceremony for 4.3 Incident Victims' Memorial. The events were originally scheduled to be held in the first half of the year. 66 events are being rescheduled for the second half of the year.

More than 8.2 billion won from the total budget cannot be spent due to the COVID19 crisis. This portion of the budget will be cut in full. It will be reorganized into projects aimed to revitalize the local economy and promote domestic demand.

제주도는 당초 상반기 개최할 것으로 예정됐던
제주들불축제와 왕벚꽃축제,
4.3희생자 추념식 전야제 등 모두 22건이 취소됐고
66건이
하반기로 일정을 변경했다고 밝혔습니다.

이로인해 집행하지 못한 예산은 모두 82억 2천여 만원이며,
이 예산은 전액 삭감한 뒤
지역 경제 활성화와
내수 진작을 위한 사업에 재편성해 집행할 예정입니다.
