Office of Education plans to provide local currency to students

The Jeju Island Superintendent of Education, is considering providing educational disaster support funding to all elementary, middle and high school students in Jeju.

The superintendent of the Office of Education, Lee Seok-moon responded to the question brought forth by Kang Min-sook, a provincial councilor, during the question and answer session on the 24th. She asked about the plans to return unused budgeted funding to students, such as on-site experience learning expenses, which were canceled by the recent COVID-19 epidemic.

Lee says he is working on a plan to set aside an extra funding of 2 percent of the total budget of the Jeju Provincial Office of Education worth 1.2 trillion won, in order to provide local currency certificates to students aged 7 and older.

Lee also requested that the Provincial Council cooperate with the revision of the ordinance.

학생들에게 환원할 계획이 없느냐는
강민숙 도의원에 질의에 대해 이같이 답했습니다.

이 교육감은 1조2천억원 수준인
제주도교육청 전체 예산의 2% 규모로 추경예산을 편성해
만 7살 이상 학생들에게
지역화폐 등으로 지원하는 계획을 마련중이라고 말했습니다.

그러면서 제주도의회에
이같은 조례 개정에 협조 해 줄 것을 요청했습니다.
