4. COVID-19 crisis worsens difficulties of small business owners
Challenges include reduced sales, rent burden, and labor costs

Small business owners in Jeju have experienced worsened business difficulties since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

According to a survey conducted by the Jeju Research Institute by sampling over 1000 small business owners in Jeju, the percentage of workplaces that had less than 3 million won in monthly sales before COVID-19 increased from 15 percent to 47 percent after the COVID-19 crisis.

Out of all small businesses in Jeju, those with sales of more than 15 million won fell sharply to 18.2 percent from 35.4 percent after the COVID-19 crisis.

After the COVID-19 epidemic, 80 percent of small business owners said they saw a drop in sales. The drop was followed by rent burdens, operating costs, and labor costs.

1천 11개의 표본을 추출해
일대일 면접방식으로 인식조사를 실시한 결과

코로나 이전
월평균 매출액이 300만 원 미만이던 사업장 비율이
15% 수준에서
코로나 이후 47%로 증가했습니다.

반면 매출액이 1천 500만 원 이상이던 사업장은
코로나 이전에는 전체의 35.4%였지만
코로나 이후 18.2%로 크게 감소했습니다.

코로나 이후 경영과 관련된 어려움으로
소상공인의 80%가
매출 감소라고 응답했고
임대료 부담, 운영자금 또는 인건비 부족이 뒤를 이었습니다.
