5. Ready-mix concrete supply impacted by driver strike
Various construction sites disrupted

A strike by cement truck drivers on Jeju Island has hampered the supply of ready-mixed concrete known as 'remicon'. This is creating problems in the construction industry.

Jeju City recently received a request from the Ready-Mixed Concrete Association to suspend or postpone all government ordered construction due to the halt of ready-mixed concrete production.

As a result, construction of urban roads and river disaster prevention projects are expected to be halted.

The Jeju branch of the Construction Association of Korea insisted that the private construction industry would be hit hard if the supply shortage of the ready-mixed concrete is prolonged, and drivers should stop the strike.
