2. JTO to sell DFS at Jeju Port
JTO considering other option to lease the facilities

The Jeju Tourism Organization is considering selling off the duty-free building at the departure gate of the Jeju Port International Passenger Terminal.

Recently, duty-free business in Jeju Shinhwa World was closed and the patent license was also returned. Thus, JTO thinks that it would be difficult for the Jeju Port to operate alone.

Jeju Island and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said that selling the properties would be possible. Thus, JTO is considering selling licenses or leasing them to large companies.

The duty-free shop at Jeju Port was created in 2017 at a cost of 9.9 billion won at the time, but it failed to open for three years as cruise trips were cut off due to China's retaliation against THAAD.

2. 제주관광공사, 제주항 면세점 매각 검토

최근 시내면세점 사업을 철수하면서 면세점 특허 면허를 반납한 가운데
제주항 역시
운영이 어려울 것으로 판단한데에 따른 것입니다.

최근 제주도와 해양수산부에
제주항 면세점 매각 가능성을 문의한 결과
가능하다는 답변을 받은 만큼
무상 사용권 매각이나
대기업 임대 방안을 검토하고 있습니다.

지난 2017년 조성된 제주항 면세점은
당시 99억 원의 공사비가 투입됐지만,
중국의 사드 보복으로 크루즈가 끊기면서
3년 동안 개장조차 못했습니다.
