2. National Assembly fails to pass the 4·3 special bill
Bill to be automatically discarded

The revision to the Jeju April 3rd Special Act, which contained the basis for state compensation for victims of Jeju’s April 3rd incident, was not passed by the 20th National Assembly.

The National Assembly held its final plenary session of the 20th National Assembly on the 20th and dealt with delayed bills. However, the revision to the April 3rd Special Act was not passed by the Public Administration and Security Committee and consequently, the bill was not introduced to the plenary session.

As a result, the revision to the 4.3 Special Law will automatically be scrapped along with the end of the 20th National Assembly's term on the 29th.

The revision to the April 3rd Special Act called for the passage of state compensation for the victims and their bereaved families, but the process was canceled due to opposition from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the opposition party.

본회의에도 상정되지 않았습니다.

이에따라 4.3특별법 개정안은
오는 29일 20대 국회 임기 종료와 함께 자동 폐기됩니다.

4.3특별법 개정안은
희생자와 유족에 대한 국가 배상이 핵심으로
4.3단체를 중심으로 통과를 요구했지만
배상 규모에 대한 기획재정부와 야당의 반대로 처리가 무산됐습니다.
