This year’s monsoon season earliest since 2011

Jeju Island’s monsoon season is expected to begin this week, which is earlier than usual.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) is reporting rain in Jeju Island from the 10th to the 12th as the rainy front moves north.

The KMA says that this week’s rain is the official start of monsoon season on the island.

If rains begin on the 10th as predicted, it will be the earliest recorded monsoon season since 2011.

Last year's season started on June 26th and ended on July 19th.

제주에는
오는 10일부터 12일까지
비가 내릴 것으로 내다봤습니다.

특히 기상청은
이번주 내리는 비를 시작으로
제주도가 장마철에 들 것으로 예상했습니다.

예보대로 오는 10일부터 장마가 시작될 경우
2011년 이후 9년 만에 이른 장마가 됩니다.

한편 지난해 장마는
6월 26일 시작돼 7월 19일 끝난 것으로 기록됐습니다.
