6. COVID-19 response preparations underway for beach season
278 safety guards will be deployed to 11 beaches

Jeju Island is preparing for beach season, which will officially kick start on the 1st of next month despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The province will cooperate with related agencies to form COVID-19 field response teams at beach sites in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

The initiative will deploy over 270 safety guards at 11 designated beaches in the province by establishing a cooperative system with the fire department, coastguard, and provincial police.

The province will hold a beach council meeting on the 11th to finalize the COVID-19 quarantine management and detailed guidelines.
