3. Governor orders 'Cultural Welfare Fund' for culture and arts community
Support includes low-interest loans, public salary

Jeju Island has agreed to come up with a support plan for the island’s culture and art community as a response to reports of significant difficulties that were brought on by the COVID-19 crisis.

Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong issued a special order for the culture and arts industry to review ways to provide low-interest loans and pay public salaries to artists.

He also ordered the establishment of a tentatively dubbed “Cultural Welfare Fund” for this purpose.

In addition, a separate organization for gathering opinions from the culture and art professionals will be established, and the government will come up with a plan to transfer a portion of the COVID19 quarantine budget to the culture industry.

코로나19로 인한 문화예술 분야의 어려움이 깊다는 보도와 관련해
제주도가 지원 방안을 마련하기로 했습니다.

원희룡 제주도지사는
문화예술 분야 특별명령을 발표하고
문화예술인에 대한
생활안정자금 저리 융자 지원과
공적 급여 지급 방안 등을 검토하도록 했습니다.

이를 위한 가칭 문화복지기금 설치도 지시했습니다.

이와 함께 문화예술계 현장 의견을 수렴할 수 있는
별도 기구도 구성하고,
코로나 방역 예산을
문화산업에 전환하는 방안도 마련하도록 했습니다.
