5. Seongsan duty-free shop reopens after five-year closure
JTO to operate newly opened duty free store

The designated duty-free shop at Seongsan Port in Seogwipo City, which had suspended operations, will open for the first time in 5 years.

The Jeju Tourism Organization recently announced that the organization was selected as the official licensed operator of Seongsan Port, a designated duty-free shop exclusively for Koreans, by the Korea Customs Service's Patent Review Committee.

JTO was previously selected as a duty-free shop operator in 2013, but lost its license due to a long-term suspension of operation after the passenger ferry “Orange” was cut off in 2015.

Meanwhile, the 13,000-ton “Sunrise” Jeju-line, which will connect Seongsan Port and Nokdong Port, will start operations on the 7th of next month.

4. 성산항 지정면세점 5년 만에 재개장

그동안 운영이 중단됐던
서귀포시 성산항 지정면세점이 5년 만에 다시 문을 엽니다.

제주관광공사는
최근 관세청 보세판매장 특허심사위원회에서
성산포항 내국인 전용 지정면세점의 사업자로 선정됐다고 밝혔습니다.

앞서 제주관광공사는
지난 2013년 면세점 사업자로 선정돼 운영하다가
2015년 전남 장흥을 잇던
여객선 오렌지호가 끊긴 뒤
장기간 운영이 중단돼 특허를 상실했습니다.

한편
앞으로 성산항과 녹동항을 잇게 될
1만 3천톤 급 선라이즈 제주호는
다음 달 7일부터 운행됩니다.
