7. Gulfweed inflow on Jeju’s coasts significantly decreases
Island returns to normal collection system

The inflow of gulfweed, which was a long-pending problem on the coasts of Jeju, has been rapidly decreasing.

The provincial government recently explained that the inflow of gulfweed has significantly decreased and that the daily collected amount only measures about 5 tons.

It has also been reported that there were very few observances of gulfweed in air forecasting and marine observations of the waters around Jeju and the possibility of influx due to rising water temperature is low.

As a result, the island has decided to resume the previously implemented normal collection system for gulfweed, and to return three of the clean-up vessels that were loaned to Jeju for gulfweed collection.


6. 괭생이모자반 감소…평시 수거체제로 전환

제주 바다에 골칫거리였던 괭생이모자반 유입량이
급격히 줄어들고 있습니다.

제주도는
최근 괭생이모자반 하루 수거량이
5톤 내외로 크게 줄었고
유입량도 거의 없다고 설명했습니다.

제주 주변 해역에 대한 항공예찰과 해상관측에서도
모자반이 거의 관측되지 않고 있고
수온 상승에 따른
유입 가능성도 낮은 것으로 제주도는 보고 있습니다.

이에따라 제주도는
모자반 수거 체제를 평상시처럼 전환하고
해상 수거를 지원했던
다른지역 정화선박 3척도
이번주중에 돌려보내기로 했습니다.
