Sea lettuce occupies large areas of Jeju’s beachfront
Green Korea emphasizes importance of countermeasures

Jeju island is suffering from an influx of sea lettuce on the coastal beachfront. However, there has yet to be any definitive management measures.

The environmental group, Green Korea, has researched an inflow of sea lettuce on all parts of the Jeju coast from the 20th to the 22nd of last month and discovered them in 63 out of 80 survey sites.

Although there are research results that pointed out land pollutants such as wastewater from fish farms as the cause of the surge in the amount of sea lettuce, the province has yet to prepare countermeasures. Green Korea has insisted on the importance of the government to arrange intensive management measures as soon as possible.

구멍갈파래가 확인됐다고 밝혔습니다.

구멍갈파래 급증 원인에 대해
양식장 배출수 등 육상오염원을 원인으로 지목하는
연구 결과가 발표됐지만
제주도의 오염원 관리 대책은 없다며
구체적이고
집중적인 관리에 나서야 한다고 주장했습니다.
