5. Prosecutors file appeal on Koh Yu-jeong’s acquittal of murder of stepson
Koh initially declared innocent on grounds of insufficient evidence

Prosecutors have filed an appeal against a second trial ruling that acquitted Koh Yoo-jeong from the murder of her stepson.

The Jeju District Public Prosecutors' Office submitted an appeal to the court on the 21st, citing a misunderstanding of facts and legal principles as well as a violation on the selecting evidence regarding Koh, who was found not guilty for the murder of her stepson by the appeals court.

It was also explained that the light penalty regarding Koh's case on the murder of her husband was the reason for the appeal.

Earlier, in an appeals court hearing on the 15th, the court accepted all the judgments made by the prosecution against Koh concerning the murder of her ex-husband. However, the court declared Koh innocent of the murder of her stepson, citing insufficient evidence.

사실오인과 법리오해, 채증법칙 위반을 이유로
21일 법원에 상고장을 제출했습니다.

또 무기징역이 선고된 전 남편 사건은 형량이 가볍다며
상고 이유를 설명했습니다.

앞서 광주고등법원 제주재판부 형사1부는 지난 15일
항소심 선고 공판에서
전 남편 살해 혐의에 대해 검찰 측 공소사실을 모두 인정했지만 의붓아들 살해 혐의에 대해서는 증거가 불충분하다며 무죄를 선고했습니다.
