3. Parents of Jeju Foreign Language High School students file injunction
Association: ‘Public debate on school conversion not valid’

Parents of Jeju Foreign Language High School students have filed an injunction with the Jeju District Court on the afternoon of the 11th, asking for a ban on the public discussion process discussing the conversion of the school.

The parents' association of Jeju Foreign Language High School raised the issue, saying that the agenda of the public debate being conducted by the education office is biased, as it is merely focused on whether the high school should be converted or not. The association also pointed out that there are no operational measures in place to respond to the situation if the school does get converted to a general high school.

Claims were also made that the Jeju Education Public Debate Commission violated the ordinance by adopting the issue as a public debate agenda without properly checking whether the petitioners were actually residents.

제주외고의
이전 여부에 초점이 맞춰져 있고
제주외고가 일반고로 전환될 경우
운영방안이나
활성화 방안에 대한 대책은 없다며 문제를 제기했습니다.

또 제주교육공론화위원회가
청구인과 동의자들의
도민 여부 등을 제대로 확인하지 않은 채
공론화 의제로 채택해 조례를 위반했다고 주장했습니다.
